Biography – Nilesh Dnyandev Lanke was born on March 10, 1980 in a simple family in Hanga village in Parner taluka. His father, Dnyandev Lanke was the primary teacher. So, his mother Shakuntala was a housewife. His parents named him Nilesh. As the father was a teacher, his father wanted his son to learn well and get a good job. So, they would take him to school with them. He was educated up to class IV in a Zilla Parishad school with his father as a teacher. He later completed his high school education in Hanga. He had a passion for wrestling when he was young. He used to go to many places to play wrestling. Sometimes he would come home late at night.
At the urging of activists, he contested the Panchayat Samiti elections in 2007 but did not succeed. In his youth he got the post of Shiv Sena taluka chief. Through this he continued his social work. Along with various social schemes, the government started implementing schemes. In 2010, he elected his own panel in the Gram Panchayat of his Hanga village and became the Sarpanch of the village. After two years, he resigned from his post of Sarpanch and gave opportunity to others. In 2012, Mrs. Nilesh Lanke’s wife. Ranitai Lanke was elected as a Panchayat Samiti member and became the Deputy Chairperson of the Parner Panchayat Samiti. Meanwhile, Nilesh Lanke continued his work by pursuing his B.A. from Yashwantrao Chavan Open University. He completed his B.A education in 2016. His wife was elected as a Zilla Parishad member in 2017 and became a member of the Zilla Planning Committee.
On 28th February 2018 at Parner, Shiv Sena President Hon. Uddhavji Thackeray had a meeting. Some people were not interested in the social and political dominance of Nilesh Lanke. As a result, Nilesh Lanka was allegations of stoning during the tour. Therefore, on March 6, 2018, he was suspended from Shiv Sena. Just three days later, on March 10, 2018, a crowd of about 30,000 people had gathered in his Hanga village on the occasion of his birthday and these activists urged him to contest the Assembly elections.
He started opening branches of Nilesh Lanke Pratishthan at various places in the taluka. He decided to contest the 2019 Assembly elections. At that time many people gave him a lot of advice. Some advised him to join the Congress while others advised him to join the BJP or NCP. Some had advised to apologized to the Shiv Sena chief and join Shiv Sena again. Meanwhile, senior NCP leader Hon. Sharad Chandraji Pawar Saheb was forming a front in Maharashtra. Taking note of Nilesh Lanke’s work and the youth behind him, he was given an opportunity to contest from NCP.
Due to the strong support of the people in the constituency, on 24th October 2019, the son of a teacher from an ordinary family was elected MLA with a majority of 61,000 votes. Nilesh Lanke was emotional in the victory rally which was attended by thousands of people. He had become the MLA of the taluka, overthrowing many established rulers. Later, the Mahavikas Aghadi government came to power in the state. Coincidentally, the president of the party which had expelled him, Hon. Uddhavji Thackeray became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra with the 145-magic figure of Nilesh Lanke.
He was a newcomer to politics. In a global epidemic like the Corona, he started the world’s first individual Covid center, which was the first in country even world. In it, thousands of patients received free treatment. He started Jumbo Covid Center in 2020 and 2021 for two consecutive years. Patients from different districts of the state as well as patients from other states were successfully treated at this Covid Center. Parner’s land is the land of heroes, reformers, saints. This land gave many famous diamonds to the country. After Bahirji Naik, Senapati Bapat, Sant Nilobarai as well as Padma Bhushan Anna Hazare and Padma Shri Popatrao Pawar from the constituency, the taluka became known as Nilesh Lanke.
